Coral Way

wildwielder This is a very skillful blend of different Latin and pop styles with Alfredo’s usual and unique approach to jazz. Tricky but joyous cascading runs and sun-drenched melodies make the whole album a great vacation playlist choice. Even “Fur Elise” feels fresh once it really gets into it, despite having been interpreted by a host of performers. In view of the real quality here, and being one of Downbeat’s top choices for the year, I can’t understand why Coral Way doesn’t have more exposure! Favorite track: Coral Way.

Harri Karvonen He is just so good pianist and so good music! I'm living in "dark" northern hemisphere and we need this southern "light" in our life!

about

Alfredo Rodriguez’s new album, Coral Way, embodies the sound of Miami: a melding of the Latin Pop, Timba, Salsa, Bachata, Tango, Reggaeton and Bolero that permeate the city's diverse community of Latinos living together while individually sharing their unique musical backgrounds from their cultural regions. After moving to Miami in 2019, Rodriguez took note of the few collaborations and cross-pollination between mainstream Latin music and Latin jazz. Coral Way, which features guest vocalists Cimafunk and Alana Sinkëy, serves as the connective tissue between these worlds – an artistic statement for the diverse Latin community to feel seen, heard and take pride in their history while creating a path forward of individuality through community.
